SwaRail App Launched: IRCTC’S one-stop solution for all your railway travel needs |

In a bid to make railway travel more convenient, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has launched a new mobile application called SwaRail. The app is available for both Android and iOS users. It will offer services like ticket booking, live train tracking, food ordering and complaint management. The app is developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS). SwaRail is currently in early access, with full features already live and more enhancements on the way.Let’s have a quick look at the features of the app:SwaRail is designed to be more than just a ticket booking tool. It’s a comprehensive travel assistant for railway passengers across India. The app allows users to:Book Reserved, Unreserved, and Platform ticketsTrack live train status and train delaysView PNR status and coach positionsOrder food from partner vendors during journeysSubmit refund requests for canceled or missed trainsRaise complaints or give feedback through the Rail Madad featureThis wide range of services eliminates the need for multiple railway-related apps and provides a unified platform for better travel planning.Early Access, Full Functionality

Even though SwaRail is currently in its early access phase, it delivers a fully functional experience. Existing IRCTC users can simply log in with their current credentials, while new users can register directly through the app. The platform supports multiple Indian languages, making it accessible to passengers from diverse regions.The app includes a ‘My Account’ section, allowing users to edit personal details, check booking history, and manage preferences. A key highlight is the built-in R-Wallet, a digital wallet for quick and secure payments within the app. This simplifies transactions for bookings, food orders, and other in-app services.How to Book a Ticket on SwaRailDownload and log in using your IRCTC account (or register as a new user).Navigate to the ‘Journey Planner’, where you can choose between Reserved, Unreserved, or Platform tickets.Enter travel details such as departure and arrival stations, date, class, and quota.Browse the list of available trains and seat options.Fill in passenger details, review the journey summary, and proceed to payment.Payments can be made through R-Wallet, UPI, debit/credit cards, or net banking, with the app clearly displaying any applicable convenience fees. Once the booking is confirmed, tickets are accessible under ‘My Bookings’, where users can view, share, or email them.Railway Digitalization

Delhi Metro QR Tickets Are Now Available On ixigo Via ONDC; Seamless Booking Experience Ahead

One of India’s leading travel platforms, ixigo Trains, is making travel easy for Delhiites. The company has partnered with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to launch Delhi Metro ticketing on the ixigo Trains app. With this new feature, passengers can book QR-based metro tickets directly through the app and make payments in-app. Scroll down for more details.

ixigo Trains has launches Delhi Metro ticketing services on its platform. With this launch, the app will become a one-stop solution to book trains, buses, flights, hotels, and metro. First-time users booking Delhi Metro tickets on the ixigo Trains app between 9-11 AM will receive 100% cashback up to ₹50 in ixigo money. On this, Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, said that they aim to make travel convenient. The new launch will offer flexibility and encourage digital ticketing.

Mr. Dinesh Kumar Kotha, CEO of ixigo Trains & Confirmtkt, added, “Our aim at ixigo is to be the most customer-friendly travel platform. Millions of Indians already use ixigo for trains, buses, and flights. By adding Delhi Metro ticketing, commuters can enjoy a seamless last-mile travel experience, save time, avoid queues, and plan complete journeys on a single app. This partnership with DMRC and ONDC supports our vision of a connected travel ecosystem, encouraging digital-first commuting habits.”

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Network

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) operates on nearly 400 km of network. It is India’s largest and busiest metro system. In August 2025, it recorded its highest-ever single-day ridership of over 81 lakh journeys. The new ticketing feature on the ixigo app is part of efforts to strengthen the travel ecosystem and make daily commuting easier.

Since 2013, ixigo Trains has introduced various features for train travellers, including Travel Guarantee for waitlisted tickets, real-time train status with delay updates, predictions for waitlist, and more. It would be interesting to see how Delhi commuters will use this new feature for booking metro tickets.
