Suryakumar Yadav bats for travel in new role with Skyscanner

Cricketer Suryakumar Yadav, popularly known as SKY, has been announced as the first-ever brand ambassador for Skyscanner in India, marking a key milestone in the travel platform’s efforts to expand its presence and engagement in the country. Known for his versatility on the field and nicknamed ‘Mr. 360’ for his all-round playing style, SKY will now lend his influence to the world of travel through this new association.
As the Indian cricket star prepares to lead the team in the upcoming Asia Cup — starting on September 9 — his partnership with Skyscanner aims to encourage travel discovery and exploration among Indian consumers. The collaboration comes at a time when travel and sports are becoming increasingly connected, with a recent Skyscanner report showing that nearly 47 percent of Indian travellers are willing to travel to watch live cricket matches.
Talking about the new partnership, Suryakumar said, “Travel has always been something that excites me as much as cricket—whether it is exploring new places during tours or discovering hidden gems on break. Partnering with Skyscanner feels natural because it’s about making travel simple, smart, and full of possibilities. I’m looking forward to inspiring more fans to combine their love for cricket with the joy of discovering the world.”
Skyscanner’s decision to bring SKY on board is part of a broader strategy to connect with digital-first, lifestyle-oriented Indian travellers who value unique experiences, an official news release stated, adding that his energetic persona and adventurous lifestyle are aligned with Skyscanner’s goal of making travel easier, more affordable, and full of inspiration.
To kick off the partnership, Skyscanner India and SKY’s social media channels are launching a contest inviting fans to create a personalised travel plan for the cricketer using Skyscanner’s tools. The top ten entries will get a chance to meet him in person, creating a deeper connection between the brand’s community and its new ambassador.
Neel Ghose, Country Manager and General Manager, Travel Expert, Skyscanner, India, said, “We are really excited to welcome SKY to the Skyscanner family. His connection with people across India makes him the perfect partner to help us show travellers just how simple, affordable and joyful planning a trip with Skyscanner can be.
“With him alongside, we aim to make travel not just more accessible, but a source of inspiration and connection for every Indian traveller. Last year, we inaugurated our first office in India and today marks yet another special occasion with SKY as the face of our brand,” Ghose added.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen Skyscanner’s footprint in India, offering the brand a new way to reach diverse audiences through a blend of cricketing passion and travel inspiration.
