Paramount Condemns Israeli Film Boycott After 3,900 Sign Pledge

After more than 3,900 industry figures signed a pledge not to work with Israeli film institutions, Paramount released a statement condemning the widespread boycott.
“At Paramount, we believe in the power of storytelling to connect and inspire people, promote mutual understanding, and preserve the moments, ideas, and events that shape the world we share. This is our creative mission,” reads a statement provided by Paramount chief communications officer Melissa Zukerman.
“We do not agree with recent efforts to boycott Israeli filmmakers. Silencing individual creative artists based on their nationality does not promote better understanding or advance the cause of peace,” the statement continued. “The global entertainment industry should be encouraging artists to tell their stories and share their ideas with audiences throughout the world. We need more engagement and communication — not less.”
Paramount is the first major studio to speak out on this issue.
The pledge, published on Monday by the organization Film Workers for Palestine, saw more than 3,900 industry figures — including Oscar, BAFTA, Emmy and Palme d’Or winners — declare that they will refuse to work with Israeli institutions and companies that are “implicated in genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people.” The pledge statement states that examples of complicity include “whitewashing or justifying genocide and apartheid, and/or partnering with the government committing them.”
The original list of 1,200 signatories included filmmakers such as Yorgos Lanthimos, Ava DuVernay, Asif Kapadia, Emma Seligman, Boots Riley, Adam McKay and Joshua Oppenheimer, as well as actors including Olivia Colman, Ayo Edebiri, Mark Ruffalo, Riz Ahmed, Tilda Swinton, Javier Bardem, Lily Gladstone, Hannah Einbinder, Gael Garcia Bernal, Melissa Barrera and Emma Stone.
By Wednesday, the letter had surpassed 3,900 signees: Nicola Coughlan, Andrew Garfield, Harris Dickinson, Bowen Yang, Guy Pearce, Jonathan Glazer, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Fisher Stevens, Abbi Jacobson, Eric Andre, Elliot Page, Payal Kapadia and Emma D’Arcy were among those who added their names, as were Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara, who recently signed on as executive producers of the Venice-prizewinning Gaza drama “The Voice of Hind Rajab.” The couple walked the red carpet at the film’s festival premiere while sporting badges in support of Palestine.

Where to watch Raiders vs. Chargers: Prediction, odds, TV, live streaming for ‘Monday Night Football’

It’s a clash of the two NFL teams that have moved most recently when the Los Angeles Chargers visit the Las Vegas Raiders as the second part of a “Monday Night Football” doubleheader in Week 2.
The Chargers come in on a high — and well-rested — after defeating the Chiefs, 27-21, on Sept. 5 in São Paulo, Brazil. Justin Herbert was fantastic, throwing for 318 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions and completing nearly 74% of his passes. Herbert spread the ball out to eight different pass-catchers, with four — Quentin Johnston, Ladd McConkey, Keenan Allen and Tyler Conklin — recording at least 50 receiving yards. Herbert also converted a key third down with his legs to seal the game.

The Raiders are also 1-0 after a rainy 20-13 Week 1 win over the Patriots. In his team debut, Geno Smith threw for 362 yards, one touchdown and one interception, and prized rookie running back Ashton Jeanty scored in his team debut. Star tight end Brock Bowers reeled in five catches for 103 yards but left with a knee injury, and his status is up in the air.
Here’s where you can watch Monday night’s game, followed by keys to the game and a prediction.
Where to watch Chargers at Raiders live

Chargers at Raiders: What to know
Bowers injury looms large: Coming off a 112-catch, 1,194-yard rookie season, Bowers was having a big Week 1 before taking an awkward hit to the knee from Craig Woodson at the end of a 38-yard catch-and-run late in the third quarter. He played one more snap but was clearly hobbled, and he did not return after that. If Bowers cannot play, expect Michael Mayer and Jakobi Meyers to feature in the passing game.
First-round rookie running backs face off: Jeanty (No. 6 overall) and Omarion Hampton (No. 22 overall) were the first two running backs selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Now, they face each other. Jeanty managed just 38 yards on 19 carries, but he did find the end zone. Hampton fared slightly better yardage-wise with 48 yards on 15 carries but did not score.
Coaching rivalry renewed: This will be the 10th meeting between Jim Harbaugh and Pete Carroll, though their first with their current teams. Carroll (then with the Seahawks) had a 5-4 record against Harbaugh’s 49ers, including a 23-17 NFC Championship in the 2013 season. Overall, Carroll has defeated Harbaugh three straight times.
Chargers at Raiders pick
The surprise star of the Raiders’ Week 1 win was the defense, which sacked Drake Maye four times and intercepted him off once.
But the Chargers’ offense is a much tougher test. Herbert looked outstanding in Week 1, and so did his weapons. Herbert has won his last three starts against the Raiders, including a 346-yard, two-touchdown performance in Week 18 last year. This year’s Raiders are better than last year’s, but not quite good enough.
Pick: Chargers 27, Raiders 20 (Chargers -3, over 46.5)

Northrop Grumman’s new spacecraft is a real chonker

What happens when you use a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to launch Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus supply ship? A record-setting resupply mission to the International Space Station.
The first flight of Northrop’s upgraded Cygnus spacecraft, called Cygnus XL, is on its way to the international research lab after launching Sunday evening from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida. This mission, known as NG-23, is set to arrive at the ISS early Wednesday with 10,827 pounds (4,911 kilograms) of cargo to sustain the lab and its seven-person crew.
By a sizable margin, this is the heaviest cargo load transported to the ISS by a commercial resupply mission. NASA astronaut Jonny Kim will use the space station’s Canadian-built robotic arm to capture the cargo ship on Wednesday, then place it on an attachment port for crew members to open hatches and start unpacking the goodies inside.
A bigger keg
The Cygnus XL spacecraft looks a lot like Northrop’s previous missions to the station. It has a service module manufactured at the company’s factory in Northern Virginia. This segment of the spacecraft provides power, propulsion, and other necessities to keep Cygnus operating in orbit.
The most prominent features of the Cygnus cargo freighter are its circular, fan-like solar arrays and an aluminum cylinder called the pressurized cargo module that bears some resemblance to a keg of beer. This is the element that distinguishes the Cygnus XL from earlier versions of the Cygnus supply ship.
The cargo module is 5.2 feet (1.6 meters) longer on the Cygnus XL. The full spacecraft is roughly the size of two Apollo command modules, according to Ryan Tintner, vice president of civil space systems at Northrop Grumman. Put another way, the volume of the cargo section is equivalent to two-and-a-half minivans.
“The most notable thing on this mission is we are debuting the Cygnus XL configuration of the spacecraft,” Tintner said. “It’s got 33 percent more capacity than the prior Cygnus spacecraft had. Obviously, more may sound like better, but it’s really critical because we can deliver significantly more science, as well as we’re able to deliver a lot more cargo per launch, really trying to drive down the cost per kilogram to NASA.”

Cargo modules for Northrop’s Cygnus spacecraft are built by Thales Alenia Space in Turin, Italy, employing a similar design to the one Thales used for several of the space station’s permanent modules. Officials moved forward with the first Cygnus XL mission after the preceding cargo module was damaged during shipment from Italy to the United States earlier this year.

Why the Buccaneers can cover
The Bucs went 10-7-0 ATS last season and have already covered the spread in their first game of the season. They were arguably lucky to get the win in Week 1 since they didn’t generate much yardage, but Mayfield still threw three touchdown passes and rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka shined by catching two of those TDs. Egbuka can help open up the offense by taking some of the attention off of Mike Evans, giving Mayfield options against a Texans defense that allowed 244 passing yards in Week 1. See which team to back at SportsLine.
Why the Texans can cover
Houston is in a position to rebound after Ka’imi Fairbairn scored all of its Week 1 points with three first-half field goals. Nico Collins can have a bounce-back game by frustrating a Buccaneers defense that allowed the fourth-most passing yards in Week 1 (289 out of 358 yards total). Nick Chubb had 13 carries for 60 yards against the Rams, so he should be firing on all cylinders in his first home game with the Texans. Houston was 7-8-2 ATS in 2024 and covered four times at home.
