Archita Phukan- A Character Created By Artificial Intelligence.
Recently, some offensive photos and videos of a young woman went viral on social media. It has been claimed that the young woman is from Assam and her name is Archita Phukan, who has recently made her debut in the porn industry. The photos and videos of the young woman were widely shared by many social media users, and various portals in Assam even reported on the debut of the young woman in the porn industry. However, on 12 July 2025, the family of a woman in Dibrugarh, Assam filed a complaint to the Dibrugarh police. The woman’s family told the Dibrugarh police that the photos and videos of Archita Phukan, which have become viral on social media, are morphed images of the woman from Dibrugarh. The viral photos and videos are created by artificial intelligence. The woman’s photos were morphed by a man named Pratim Borah using artificial intelligence to defame and harass her due to his personal grudge. Dibrugarh police arrested Pratim Barah and seized various properties like laptops, mobile phones, hard disks, SIM cards etc. Police said that although Pratim Borah initially did this out of personal grudge, he has earned around Rs 10 lakh by uploading the photos and videos on porn sites. After earning money, he continues to do this out of greed.
We reached out to Dibrugarh Police and police sources said that actions will be taken against those who are sharing photos and videos of the victim. They urged people not to harass the victim by sharing her morphed images and videos.
Archita Phukon’s incident shows us the risks of Artificial Intelligence.
Over the recent years, Artificial Intelligence has become a significant part of the evolving technology. Artificial Intelligence is benefiting mankind by reducing human error, saving time, making unbiased decisions, automating repetitive tasks, increasing operational efficiency, processing large volumes of data and enhancing customer experiences.
But, AI has also reduced employment, and it has privacy and data security concerns. It can be programmed to harm, and it can diminish critical thinking abilities.
One of the biggest risks of AI in social media is the Deepfake. A deepfake is an edited video, audio or photo that is created using artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is used to replace a person’s appearance or voice with another or to artificially create a person’s voice to show that the person is doing or saying something that he or she does not do. Deepfake also refers to computer-generated content that does not exist in real life.
Some users on social media platforms like Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, etc, are using AI-generated images as satirical content, which eventually goes viral as a real one. This practice is increasing the risks of spreading social media misinformation.
Although AI is becoming powerful, we can still differentiate between real and AI-generated videos, photos and audios if we look closely. For example, if we look at this viral photo of Archita Phukon, we can see that the hand holding the dog is fuzzy and anomalous.
There are abnormalities in Archita Phukon’s viral videos as well, such as abnormal facial expressions.
Earlier, a photo of a bride in a bikini allegedly from Banaras went viral on social media. However, our investigation revealed that the photo was AI-generated.

Before sharing any information that we come across on social media, we should check its authenticity. We may not identify AI-generated stuff at first glance, but if we look closely we can identify some of the differences. Lip sync issues, unusual expressions, and unusual pauses between sentences are common in deepfake videos. In addition, various AI content detection tools are available on the Internet to determine whether a video, audio or photo is created by artificial intelligence or not.
It has been argued that AI will become so powerful that humanity may irreversibly lose control of it. With the advancement of technology, the prevalence of false information has increased. Artificial Intelligence needs to be used ethically. Rather than becoming a slave of AI, we, human should focus on using AI for the upliftment of mankind.

Portland Public Schools folded some guidance on artificial intelligence into its district technology policy for students and staff over the summer, though some district officials say the work is far from complete.
The guidelines permit certain district-approved AI tools “to help with administrative tasks, lesson planning, and personalized learning” but require staff to review AI-generated content, check accuracy, and take personal responsibility for any content generated.
The new policy also warns against inputting personal student information into tools, and encourages users to think about inherent bias within such systems. But it’s still a far cry from a specific AI policy, which would have to go through the Portland School Board.
Part of the reason is because AI is such an “active landscape,” says Liz Large, a contracted legal adviser for the district. “The policymaking process as it should is deliberative and takes time,” Large says. “This was the first shot at it…there’s a lot of work [to do].”
PPS, like many school districts nationwide, is continuing to explore how to fold artificial intelligence into learning, but not without controversy. AsThe Oregonian reported in August, the district is entering a partnership with Lumi Story AI, a chatbot that helps older students craft their own stories with a focus on comics and graphic novels (the pilot is offered at some middle and high schools).
There’s also concern from the Portland Association of Teachers. “PAT believes students learn best from humans, instead of AI,” PAT president Angela Bonilla said in an Aug. 26 video. “PAT believes that students deserve to learn the truth from humans and adults they trust and care about.”

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — “Artificial intelligence is one of the big new waves in the economy. Right now they say that artificial intelligence is worth about $750 billion in our economy right now. But they expect it to quadruple within about eight or nine years,” said Paul Meyers, President and Financial Advisor at Legacy Wealth Management in Fargo.
According to a Stanford study, since 2013, the United States has been the leading global AI private investor. In 2024, the U.S. invested $109.1 billion in AI. While on a global scale, the corporate AI investment reached $252.3 billion.
“Artificial intelligence is already in our daily lives. And I think it’s just going to become a bigger and bigger part of it. I think we still have control over it. That’s a good thing. But artificial intelligence is helpful to all of us, regardless of what industry you’re in, and we need to be ready for it,” said Meyers.
Recently, Applied Digital has seen a dip in its stock by nearly 4%. The company’s 50-day average price is $12.49, and its 200-day moving average price is $9.07. Their latest report in July reported their earnings per share being $0.12 for the quarter.
“This company has grown quite a bit as a stock this year. For investors in this company, they’re up ninety-four percent this year. And I would say that you know there’s some positives and some negatives, some causes for concern, and some causes for optimism, it’s not a slam dunk,” said Meyers.
At the city council meeting on Tuesday night, Don Flaherty, Mayor of Ellendale, shared that they had not received any financial benefits from Applied Digital and won’t see any until 2026. While Harwood has yet to finalize their decision on the proposal.
