Their work has a direct impact on how companies like ours improve our services and customer experience. By improving event services across the board, IESA is helping India become not just ready to host events, but ready to give memorable experiences, making our country a strong choice for global tourism and MICE events.

With the MICE industry’s projected growth, what specific opportunities do you see for collaboration between IESA’s member service providers and the broader tourism ecosystem, including hotels, airlines, and local tour operators, to create a seamless and high-value experience for event attendees?

With the MICE industry growing rapidly, there are great chances for IESA’s member service providers to work closely with hotels, airlines, and local tour operators. By working together, we can offer event attendees a smooth and enjoyable experience from start to finish. By building partnerships across the ecosystem, we can offer well-rounded experiences that reflect India’s hospitality, and professionalism, making us a preferred destination on the global MICE map. Together, we can turn events into complete travel experiences, helping India stand out as a top MICE destination.

The ‘EventFully Bharat 1.0’ initiative aims to foster new ventures. What kind of innovative solutions or startups in the event services space do you believe will have the most significant impact on improving the travel and hospitality experience for MICE delegates in India?
The EventFull Bharat 1.0 initiative is a great step to support new ideas that improve the MICE experience in India. Startups that can make the biggest difference are those that simplify travel and stay for delegates. For example, apps that combine flight, hotel, and event bookings in one place can save time and hassle. Transport services that offer smooth pick-ups from airports to venues can make travel stress-free. Mobile apps that provide real-time help, event updates, and local tips can make the experience more comfortable. Lastly, platforms that offer curated local experiences can make events more memorable.

Could you provide a concrete example of how a major event managed by an IESA member has created a ripple effect, benefiting local tourism and hospitality businesses in the host city?

One notable example of the ripple effect created by IESA members can be seen in their involvement with Kumbh Mela, where an IESA member designed a Digital Experience Zone that gained significant recognition from both domestic and international visitors. This initiative not only elevated the overall experience of the event but also brought global attention to the host city, driving increased footfall and boosting the local tourism and hospitality sectors. Similarly, during the Assam Summit, another IESA member delivered an exceptional execution that was highly appreciated by international delegates and ministries, further enhancing the event’s stature. These elevated experiences not only meet but exceed visitor expectations, resulting in international recognition for the host destinations. Furthermore, IESA members have successfully executed global-scale events like AERO India, which consistently draws attention from international buyers and dignitaries. These events act as magnets, attracting high-value visitors to India, which in turn directly contributes to the growth of local tourism, hospitality, and related services in the host cities. Such impactful executions by IESA members demonstrate the MICE sector’s potential to transform cities into international destinations, leaving a lasting economic footprint.

As India plans to host big global events like the Olympics, the MICE services industry has some challenges to face. These include improving infrastructure, training skilled staff, maintaining service quality, and better coordination between event teams, hotels, transport, and tourism services. To match international standards, everything needs to run smoothly from logistics and safety to guest experience and technology. IESA is helping solve these problems by working with the travel and tourism sector. They offer training, set quality standards, and bring different service providers together. By building these strong connections and raising service levels, IESA is helping India get ready to host world-class events with confidence.

From a tourism perspective, how does organizing a high-profile event like India Expo Shop 2025 in a new venue like Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, help in promoting emerging destinations or new infrastructure within India’s capital region?

Hosting a major event like India Expo Shop 2025 at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, plays a significant role in promoting emerging destinations within Delhi. When visitors attend the event, they will stay in nearby hotels, dine at local restaurants, and utilize local transportation. This brings more business to the area and supports the local economy. It also showcases the city’s new infrastructure. Yashobhoomi, with its modern facilities, has become known as a world-class venue, attracting more events in the future. This puts Dwarka on the map as a growing MICE and tourism hub, encouraging further development in the area.

South African Tourism announces fifth edition of Corporate Think Tank in India

South African Tourism is set to launch the fifth edition of its flagship Corporate Think Tank. The series will be hosted in four key hubs such as Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, and Kolkata on 19th September 2025, 07th November 2025, 12th December 2025, and 30th January 2026 respectively. Aimed at positioning the Rainbow Nation as a leading destination for global business events, the Corporate Think Tank brings together key industry leaders and corporate decision makers to explore business growth, evolving travel demands, and the future of MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions).

Led by Deepika Nair, Acting Trade Manager, South African Tourism, the event will connect with Indian corporates across key sectors such as IT, pharmaceuticals, and financial services. By expanding its focus beyond traditional metro markets, the initiative aims to tap new emerging business hubs like Chennai and Kolkata along with other cities, fostering greater accessibility and inclusivity. Building on the success of previous editions, South African Tourism’s 2025 Corporate Think Tank highlights the dynamic growth of India’s corporate travel landscape and its critical role in South Africa’s MICE sector. In 2024, India emerged as one of South Africa’s fastest-growing source markets for MICE travel, contributing 20.2% of overall MICE arrivals. Business and MICE travellers collectively accounted for nearly half (49.6%) of Indian arrivals, underscoring the significant impact of this segment on South Africa’s tourism industry.

With Corporate Think Tank 2025, South African Tourism aims to build on this momentum and drive strong growth in MICE arrivals from India. As part of its broader strategy to create innovative platforms that inspire and engage the Indian corporate travel community, the initiative will spotlight South Africa as both a business-ready destination and a vibrant hub of culture and experiences.

Taiwan Tourism expands India outreach with trade engagements in Kochi and Kolkata

Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) recently concluded two significant trade and educational events in Kochi and Kolkata, marking a deeper outreach into South and East India.

A first such event at the South Indian city of Kochi by TTA, the event was an educational seminar. The high-tea event was attended by leading Taiwanese DMCs, Top Holidays and Apple Travel Services, whereas Singapore Airline was the partner airline to the event. Aimed at educating city’s travel trade on Taiwan’s diverse FIT and MICE offerings, the event was attended by some 30 leading travel agents and tour operators actively engaged in outbound tourism business.

The road show in Kolkata, a hitherto untapped market for Taiwan, also aimed at educating the city’s travel trade on Taiwan’s FIT and MICE offerings. India’s fourth largest city-economy and capital of one of the strongest outbound tourism source markets in India, West Bengal, the Kolkata roadshow had Thai Airways as the partner airline and some 50 agents attended the event.

Commenting on the two events, Paul Shih, Director – TTA Singapore Office, said, “India is a very diverse market and there are tremendous opportunities to exploit across the country. We saw some surprising response from our last year’s Educational Seminar with airline partner in the South Indian cities of Bangaluru, Chennai and Hyderabad. The two events were strategic extension of our trade outreach, engagement and educational programme that we have carried in India over the last year and half. Kochi gave opportunity to penetrate deep in the South India market, whereas Kolkata roadshow was our first post-pandemic push in the region and was aimed at opening East Indian market, particularly West Bengal.”

TTA made a determined comeback to India in January 2024 with strategic market-focussed plans. Taiwan recorded a robust 20.81% growth in Indian visitor arrivals last year and has since further strengthened its growth to 22.01% year-on-year for the January-May period this year.

“TTA is committed to long-term strategic approach and position Taiwan as a premier destination for high-end luxury and MICE travellers. These events will help enhance our destination appeal and visibility for HNI, FIT, incentives and luxury corporate travellers through strategic partnerships with airlines and travel agencies in these regions. We want to visit these places again and again and convince our travel industry friends that we are quite serious about forming new partnerships in order to develop these markets,” Shih further stressed.

The two events are aligned to TTA’s strategic goal of gradually expanding its destination marketing and trade outreach activations, while also introducing new products such as Golf Tourism that was recently introduced in the Indian market. Through such expanding activations, TTA aims to strengthen partnerships with travel industry professionals across a wider geography in order to increase the number of Indian tourists to Taiwan.
