Indian Airlines, including IndiGo, issued travel advisory for passengers on Tuesday amid heavy rain in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

As heavy rains hit India’s financial capital, citizens witness waterlogging in several areas, and face problems in commuting.

Heavy rains affect air movement and might cause delay in flights, airlines say.
IndiGo urges passengers to check flight status to be aware of potential delays and allow additional time for the journey, especially with traffic moving slower than usual.

“There’s a heavy downpour over Mumbai at the moment, causing some temporary disruption to flight schedules. If you are travelling today, please be aware of potential delays and allow additional time for your journey, especially with traffic moving slower than usual. ” IndiGo said in its travel advisory on Tuesday.

The airline has asked passengers to check their flight status, prioritising passenger comfort and safety.
Another airline, Spicejet, informed the passengers about potential delay in departures and arrivals due to bad weather in Mumbai.
“Due to bad weather (heavy rains) in Mumbai (BOM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status,” SpiceJet said.

Akasa Air also issued a travel advisory highlighting heavy rainfall and waterlogging in certain parts of Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, and Goa that may cause slow movement of traffic and congestion on roads leading to the airport.

“Due to heavy rainfall and waterlogging in certain parts of Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, and Goa, we anticipate slow moving traffic and congestion on roads leading to the airport. To ensure a seamless travel experience, we request you to plan for additional travel time to reach the airport well in time for your flight,” Akasa Air said.

Heavy downpours continue in the capital of Maharashtra as BMC issues high tide warning.
